Rangers vs Aberdeen
Scotland – Premiership
Date: Wednesday, 24 January 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK
Venue: Ibrox Stadium (Glasgow).
We can expect a real buzz in and around Ibrox Stadium on Wednesday evening when Aberdeen come to visit the capital and play the derby of the round against local Rangers. The hosts will be highly motivated to pick up the victory which would see them move level on points with their counterparts in the battle for the second position in the Premiership standings.
While the Dons demolished the lower-division St. Mirren 4-1 in the weekend’s FA Cup action, Rangers went to the United States to feature the Florida Cup where they took the trophy after beating both of the Brazilian Serie A rivals Atletico Mineiro and Corinthians. Graeme Murty particularly has reasons to be satisfied with his men’s attacking display in the second clash against the current Serie A holders as the Teddy Bears have notched four past Corinthians on Saturday.
If we add notable improvements in defensive displays (the best proof is the goalless draw with Celtic in the previous Premiership game back in late-December), we do find the hosts in a good position ahead of Aberdeen’s visit here.
Derek McInnes’ men have generally been tough to break down on their travels in this term of the Premiership, but they did show plenty of holes when they came face to face with the league’s heavyweights conceding three goals to Rangers and Celtic each recently.
Rangers vs Aberdeen: Head-to-head
Rangers have been more than dominant in head to head ties with Aberdeen over the course of history.
The Teddy Bears have actually lost only a single of 36 home matches against the Dons winning as many as 28 at the same time.
Aberdeen had no answer to Rangers’ game in their most recent encounters either since the Teddy Bears have won both of last two meetings netting five goals in the process.
Rangers vs Aberdeen: Prediction:
Both teams to score.
