Lokeren vs Genk
Belgium – First Division A
Date: Wednesday, 24 January 2018
Kick-Off at 19:30 UK
Venue: Daknamstadion (Lokeren).
Genk continued their dismal season with the home loss to Anderlecht at the start of the year. KRC have thus dropped down to the ninth position in the league standings and the best they desperately need a serious turnaround in form if they are to break into the top six at the end of the season.
The visit to Daknamstadion should provide them to get much-needed points on the board as Lokeren will enter the game in a poor atmosphere having suffered a 3-0 defeat to Gent on Sunday. Genk’s new manager Philippe Clement will thus be hoping to see his attacking line exploit these holes in Lokeren’s defense and lead the team to the victory on the road.
Tricolores have been anything but impressive so far in the season. They sit 13th at the moment, but a win here would see them move lock on points with their counterparts. They are led by Peter Maes who spent last two years as Genk’s head coach which should be a massive advantage for the hosts on Wednesday.
Maes’ men had a decent finish of the last year when they moved away from the relegation scrap after picking up seven points from last three league matches, but the weekend’s display of theirs was anything but impressive.
